UTLA - OLIVE |
Our extra virgin olive oils
In our olive groves we grow a selection of indigenous and imported varieties which are hand picked at the best time for each variety and later blended or selected to become a special variety extra virgin olive oil.
We produce olive oil from different varieties of olives, but the production is based on indigenous variety Plominka. All our olives are hand picked with care and cold pressed within 24 hours in order to preserve all nutrients and obtain nature at its best in a bottle of "golden drops" of Island Krk. |
Plominka by utla
Plominka by Utla is a mono varietal olive oil made of olives grown only on sunny island Krk in Croatia.
Olive oil of indigenous variety Plominka was an important part of the Oleum Liburnicum, an olive oil adored by the Romans and was first mentioned in one of the oldest discovered books and recipes, Roman "De re coquinaria", which is 2000 years old. This oil of exceptional variety is not produced anywhere else in the world. It is the real rhapsody of fresh olive fruit, green grass fragrance and has the flavour of fresh olive fruit with the presence of bitterness and piquancy. In order to produce olive oil of exceptional quality the production process is monitored in strict terms and limited to small amounts. |
utla Blend
Utla blend is our blend extra virgin olive oil which as we like it, has a decisive character.
Our first olive grove has been purchased in 1908. and ever since we have been planting more olives and slowly introducing new varieties. The base of our olive oil is always indigenous variety Plominka but for the perfect blend and richness of taste we grow and also blend olive oil of following varieties- Drobnica, Levantinka, Pendolino, Leccino, Krčka debela, Buža, Rošinjola, Casaliva and Coratina. Depending on the weather conditions each year the bitterness and piquancy may vary but are always harmonious. Utla blend olive oil is full of fresh olive taste with the scent of fresh green grass, fruit, tomato or almond and aromatic herbs which grow in harmony with the olives. |
